Orleans is a satellite suburban community in the east end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, located along the Ottawa River about 16 km from Downtown Ottawa. Based on the adjusted boundary definition used for Orléans, the community had a population of 139,309 in the 2021 Canadian Census. Originally settled in the 1830s by predominantly French Canadian families and centred on the parish of St. Joseph d'Orléans, it developed as one of the National Capital Region's principal Francophone communities before undergoing rapid suburban growth during the late 20th century.
